The Gamekeeper (2010)

Recently, I’ve become increasingly interested in Jacques Derrida’s argument that cultural texts must be deconstructed from within their own discourse rather than from external reference, and if this means that cultural ‘myths’ with a visual basis can only be deconstructed through practice-based research that engages with that myth’s visual construction. As such The Gamekeeper, a collaboration with Rhod Walls, is a multiple exposure showing the process behind fashioning a model ‘urban’ and ‘rural’, and is the first step in beginning to think about how the myth of the English countryside might be deconstructed visually.
